Theme : Relationship between politics and economy

relatité

The relationship between economy and politics is neither rigid nor well defined. On the contrary, there are many interpretations and interferences between the two spheres that are mainly interlinked, due to combined factors that operate both in economic and political realms.  Taking into consideration the two spheres is necessary to better evaluate women’s capacity to assert themselves both in their professional and political lives.  Articulating the two spheres, we will analyze these relationships, that is to say reciprocal repercussions and influences between the two areas, which will lead us to a better understanding of the issue of women political participation as a whole and to avoid a reductive and truncated approach.

Limiting us to the case of Tunisia, in the framework of UN-INSTRAW & CAWTAR, a study regarding the two spheres (political and economic) was conducted, focusing on the factors that work in favor of or against women's political participation and decision-making… The results of this study are available on the website (link to be updated in September 2009).

  • The project has also realized a fact sheet on " women's participation in  economic life and the integration into the decision process" available here (in french).
