Why a website ?


A website is one of the most efficient means to disseminate information. It provides large scale visibility, enabling everybody, no matter the place from where he/she connects, his/ her age, his/her academic level, to find the information he or she is seeking for or to communicate and share ideas/ opinions/ messages. Aware of the importance of communication, the project “Strengthening women’s leadership and participation in politics and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia”, financed by the Government of Spain, has put its agenda online. The creation of this website has integrated the latest communication technologies in order to mobilize and to engage keys players involved in the initiative and to support a participatory approach and dialogue between them.

Designed according to a participatory and interactive approach, the project website adopts a communication strategy which is based on a platform using new information and communication technologies, giving the opportunity to website visitors to participate in improving its contents. Indeed, taking advantage of the social network phenomenon, the project plans to launch a facebook group as well as a discussion forum that will allow us to consolidate the contact between the project and the different key players.

What will you find on this site ?

The project team is continually looking at improving the website contents so that it will better responds to visitors’ expectations.

  • In addition to the project presentation, highlighting recent activities of partners and stakeholders, the site presents the sub-themes covered by the project:

    You will also find a selection of books and documents available for online consultation, in relation to the central theme of the project.

  • The site gives you the option to download the project publications, such us the mapping of the region and the national action-research conducted on each of the three countries. In addition to this you will find a presentation of the electoral system in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, the results of the media exercise, created with students from Information and Communication Institutes of the concerned countries, and an analysis of the relationship between economy and politics.
     
  • A glossary is designed in order to familiarize visitors with technical terminology and definitions related to gender issues.
     
  • The catalogue of the project library is available for consultation on line; which will allow everybody to examine a book’s content before consulting them online.
     
  • A list of useful websites for the research/ information/ projects related to the issue of women’s participation to political life and to decision making processes.
     
  • An address book containing contacts of different national and international key players, directly or indirectly involved in the promotion of women’s political participation process, is also available.
     
  • The site allows you to subscribe in order to stay informed about project updates as well as those of our partners.
     
  • Updates from key figures as well as News concerning women’s political participation in the three countries and worldwide are periodically posted on the site.
     
  • To make your visit fun and interactive, a quizz and a monthly survey are on the website.
     
  • Online themed discussions are proposed concerning the sub-themes of the project. Anybody may get involved: individuals, governmental institutions, political parties, Journalists, associations, NGO’s, Trade-Unions, researchers, stakeholders, etc. on line discussions aim to promote a lively and constructive debate on current subjects of interest and to encourage the exchange of ideas/experiences, collaboration and cooperation between different parties.
