Citizenship and political participation: key axis of the 4th survey on youth.

  • 12 Fabruary 2010

The survey conducted within the framework of the 4th Consultation on youth will be launched during March 2010, in Tunisia.

The field survey’s cross section is made up of 10 000 young men and women between the age of 18 and 29 years. It takes into account many variables: gender, areas (urban or rural) and social status (pupils, students, practitioners, unemployed and young girls at home).

    The questionnaire contains 4 axes:

    -          youth and participation

    -           youth and the values in a context of changes

    -          youth and development

    -          youth, media and information and communication technologies

The director of the National Observatory of youth pointed out that the questionnaire preparation is based on the outstanding questions of the last referendum besides touching some topical issues such as in-depth knowledge of youth opinion on citizenship, civic and political participation, voluntarism etc.

Besides, discussion platforms (at the local and regional levels) are planned and they will be held during the month of June and will be attended by about 100 thousand young people. These platforms will be ended by a national meeting which will be held in July 2010. Participants’ opinions and attitudes will be taken in account in the elaboration of the final report scheduled in October 2010.
